Season eight has so far teased that Carl’s life will be cut short as in the premiere, a Saviour told his father Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln): “Your boy’s gonna die.”
Another sneaky hint was dropped when the programme showed Rick in the future red-eyed, with a theory suggesting he had been crying and mourning the loss of his son.
However, Chandler, 18, has now addressed the rumours and simply laughed it off as he said the story gets brought up each year.
Referencing articles going back to 2014, Chandler wrote: ”lmao y’all think I’m getting killed off every year.”
But Chandler could just be throwing fans of the scent as the midseason finale will be an extended episode which usually features a dramatic twist.
Instead of the usual hour, the eighth episode will run at 88 minutes including US adverts.
And after the latest instalment episode four, titled ‘Some Guy, where King Ezekiel’s (Khary Payton) pet tiger Shiva was killed off protecting him, it appears anything could happen.
Chandler’s comments come after executive producer David Alpert revealed no one is safe in the post-apocalyptic show.
When asked about Carl’s potential death, he told the Huffington Post: ”I think we’ve shown time and time again that everybody’s on the table, and that we’re the type of show where we don’t have a problem deviating from what the comic does.”
The Walking Dead continues on AMC on Sunday and will follow a day later on FOX UK. Seasons one to seven are currently available to stream on NOW TV.
