Fans of the hit HBO series are desperate to gather as much information about the new season as possible and now Lena Headey, who stars as Queen Cersei, appears to have dropped a huge death spoiler.
Cersei is a favourite to be killed off when the show returns with Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) eyeing up the Iron Throne and theories circulating that her brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) will end her life.
And now, the actress has confessed that when she receives a script she rushes to the last page to find out if her character survives and appeared to reveal her fate.
Lena confessed to TIME magazine: “Last year, Peter Dinklage sent me a text that said, ‘Oh my God, have you read them?’ and I hadn’t.
“I’d just had my second baby so I was a bit crazy and full of milk. He just said, ‘Holy s**t,’ and I was like, ‘What the f**k?’
“He went, ‘Oh my God, I’m not telling you’, so I assumed oh, I’m going to die. And then, I went straight to the end. I was really in shock.”
Has the star just confirmed Cersei will survive season seven?
However, Lena, 43, then teased that a lot of people will be killed off as the show comes to a close.
“I think obviously, now, there’s got to be some body count at the end of season eight,” she commented. “This is the year.”
It seems fans may have to wait until season eight to see the evil queen get killed.
It comes after Kit Harington, who plays King in the North Jon Snow, revealed who he would like to see take Cersei’s place on the Iron Throne.
“Tyrion. Personally, I don’t really tell people my theories about things, but I think it could be. It’s not exactly going to be Tyrion, but I think it could be Tyrion,” he told The Wall Street Journal.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16 and will be simulcast in the UK at 2am on Sky Atlantic. Catch up on season one to seven on NOW TV.
